Naples, Maine

Naples, Maine è una cittadina situata nella Contea di Cumberland nel cuore della Regione della Western Maine Lakes, sul lago Long Lake o Sebago a metà strada tra la Costa del Maine e le Bianche Montagne del New Hampshire. E’ anche chiamata la capitale “delle fresche acque del New England”, in una zona di nove piccoli laghi, tre dei quali sono separati da ponti levatoi e collegati tra loro da chiuse, il lago più grande è il Sebago. In estate, gli sport acquatici sono tra i più praticati, i laghi nei dintorni di Naples sono meta di pescatori, ma molto praticati sono i sette campi da golf.

Naples, che conta circa 3200 abitanti, è anche chiamata la città delle “quattro stagioni” perché in ogni periodo dell’anno offre qualcosa ai visitatori. Dell’estate si è già detto, la primavera offre alla vista il risveglio della natura, in inverno le montagne vicine ed innevate, a circa un centinaio di chilometri da Naples, ovvero in quasi 60 minuti di auto, offrono in Downhill sei aree sciistiche attrezzate, per questo Naples è detta la “Winter Wonderland” ovvero “il paese delle meraviglie invernali”; ma la stagione più spettacolare è l’autunno che offre il più bello spettacolo di fogliame in tutto il New England, le cui foreste formano un tendaggio di colori unici, con centinaia di chilometri di sentieri e piste. Nulla si sa delle origini della denominazione del posto.

The fall season brings you some of the most scenic foliage anywhere in New England.  In the fall our forests turn into an artist canvas full of colour and beauty.  There are literally hundreds of miles of trails and back roads to spend those lazy fall days taking in the beauty of the fall colours.

Winter brings out the child in all of us, with 6 Downhill ski areas within 60 minutes of Naples and hundreds of kilometres of Cross Country ski trails, all types of skiers can find what they are looking for.  We also boast some of the best ice fishing and snowmobile areas in the state.   If you are into winter mountain climbing, in just a short 60 minute drive you will be at the base of the best Ice Climbing on the east coast. Winter is a wonderful time in Naples; it’s a “Winter Wonderland”.
